Why can't we have a 'Stand up to violence against women night'?

Whilst I applaud the ideals of the Stand up to cancer tonight, I wonder why we can't have a similar night against violence towards women, raising money for charities such as Rape Crisis, Women's Aid, Refuge, Karma Nivarna and raising awareness on these issues?

Will it ever happen??

I dunno, he sounds like Rik Mayall c. The Young Ones. In my mind's eye, I am imagining our newest little friend in the little beret and prancing around just like Rik did in that character all sarky and stuff. Apologies if that sounds like I'm slagging off Rik, as I'm not (was a huge fan in the day), its just its that same university level humour/sarcasm.

Just in case you are still lurking uber, as another man just take a step back and look at this. Back when we were trying to dismantle slavery one of the arguments against it were people pointed towards acts of rebellion and violence of individual slaves towards their white masters as evidence that they weren't civilised enough.

I personally can understand how systemic violence towards women provokes a strong reaction amongst feminists, yours or mine hurt feelings as men quite simply pale in comparison to the experiences of violence of your sister for example.

I think it is disingenuous to expect a naturally human response such as anger/frustration to stimulus to cease before we're allowed to discuss it. What is basically coming across is that yours or my comfort in the discussion is more important than the issue of violence against women. Not cool bro.
