There doesn't seem to be any suggestion "she" asked him to send her the photo, is there?

So simply being an attractive young woman and complimenting national politicians on twitter is "entrapping" men into sending photos of their genitals?

Perhaps you could hang off with your continual defence of a distinctly dodgy man, in the context of several years of disclosures about actual abuse being perpetrated against actual women who were unable to speak out.

You are blinding yourself to the possibility of abuse because you have determined that the journalist in question is despicable, a completely distinct and irrelevant fact.

Flora, I think that's a bit unfair. Empire agrees that he's dodgy, unethical etc.

No one is blind to the possibility of abuse, just that in this specific instance, there was no abuse.

Yy - BN may have committed crimes such as harassment elsewhere. But I don't think there is a specific crime here.

Yonic do you think that's the appropriate standard for behaviour in public office - whether there has been a crime committed?

GF said this sting was based on the following:

Newmark had a certain reputation among younger Tory women for being, for want of a better word, a bit of a creep. Think what his position gave him access to – ambitious, younger women. As with Lord Rennard that combination has obvious temptations.

If this is true, there are real young Tory women who have had experiences with Newmark. Do you think they are likely to come out and talk about it in the current environment? Sleazy behaviour towards young women by senior men in public office is totally unacceptable, whether or not it amounts to a crime and whether or not there was any level of engagement by the woman.

I think it was totally a case of entrapment.

However, I wholeheartedly agree with this:

Newmark had to go because he had demonstrated that he was just too stupid to hold any post in government (or anywhere else really). Let's hope he never gets any emails telling him he's inherited 20 million dollars…

FloraFox · 01/10/2014 19:40

causing someone to engage in sexual activity through deception is a crime

since when?
