I'm doing a dissertation on Grendel's Mother in Beowulf. My supervisor has asked me what feminists I had in mind, and I have drawn a blank.

Can anyone recommend any interesting feminists that I might be able to use to analyse the text?

Mary Daly might work!

Thank you, that's really helpful. I will have a look.

I'm trying to explore why GM is treated so 'unheroically' considering she took on the great warrior Beowulf, with her bare hands. I'm also thinking about how the mother-child bond is treated compared to other familial bonds.

I was sort-of looked down on/penalised for using modern theorists who hadn't explicitly examined the texts/themes/events I was discussing in middle high German texts.
I'm trying to think - will come back to this later, hopefully.
I second Mary Daly though - the 'male mother' thing.
