she's very intellectual but views things in a very black and white way.
She has strong feminist views like me (her mum doesn't care muchSad ). In conversation she threw in FGM (as you do!) And in her opinion having a bikini wax done is a mild form of FGM.
Just throwing it out there for consideration. It really made me think.

I'm questioning your motives.

I don't mean they would be better of with you out of their lives but you think she's not good enough, that's obvious. You think you'd do a better job.

I'd hate to be in her position

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 22/06/2014 21:46

It was an interesting thread topic but I'm now uncomfortable, so I will leave you to it.

CapitalWasteland · 22/06/2014 21:50

Wow, what a completely unsisterly thread.

Not everyone is a perfect feminist who knows every aspect of what things should or shouldn't be compared. The child in question is 7 and made an excellent connection between two things.

And what we have is people calling the OP a liar because her experience is different & criticising her for thinking about things. Of course FGM is something that shouldn't be compared to waxing, but that's an educational point not a reason for calling out.

JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 21:51

Oh im sure you'd hate to be in her position. What person would have chosen to be 17, pregnant and homeless?
and after facing that the option of a big detached house with garden in Oxfordshire and being a SAHM (as you wanted), a nice car, holidays in Italy, and unconditional love from your sister sounds horrific.
Really awful

JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 21:53

How do you think I think I could do a better job? I can't even keep a baby alive inside me!

OP posts:
CapitalWasteland · 22/06/2014 21:54

And after being attacked the OP feels the need to defend herself & people use this for justification for their original attack. Hope y'all have the warm fuzzies for it while alienating another woman.

CapitalWasteland · 22/06/2014 21:55

rage quits the site yet again

KellyHopter · 22/06/2014 21:57

Flipping heck, I realised from the 'FGM taught to 7yos' stuff we live in very different worlds.

But to have a spare 60k to chuck at your sister, at 21 and in your profession...amazing.

LoveSardines · 22/06/2014 21:58

This thread is utterly bizarre Confused

Deverethemuzzler · 22/06/2014 22:01

WTF is going on?

There is NO way this OP deserves the response it has got.
We are talking about a 7 year old who is clearly bright and is doted on by her aunt.

On what fucking planet does that warrent the nastiness on this thread?

The child made a point. It was an immature one but that is because SHE is immature because she is SEVEN.

The fact she has learned about FGM may horrify some of you but she didn't learn about it from the OP did she?

Better off without out her?
Sacrificing her DD?

Have a look at yourself won't you Hmm

KellyHopter · 22/06/2014 22:05

It's
All
Nonsense

So everything's ok!

YouMakeMeHappy · 22/06/2014 22:11

I hope you're right Kelly. I'm sure you must be, the maths doesn't make sense.

JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 22:11

Yes I earn that amount at a reasonably young age. What can I say - im good at what I do, enjoy a large pay check and accept the large tips and "thank you" packages that come my way.
Then I hand some over to a lovely man who does magical things with it and stocks and makes it increase even more.
And I buy falling down property, make it nice and safe and sell it on, and yes, make more money!
Then back to "magic stock man".
Its a good cycle.

OP posts:
JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 22:15

So as i'm a successful woman at 21 im a liar?
Great feminist support. Thanks ladies.

It is also essential that time and space is made for personal, social and health education within and across the curriculum. PSHE is a golden opportunity to challenge attitudes which lead to violence against young women, exploitation or abuse. PSHE should be statutory in every school so each girl has the same entitlement

From the NUT website news page 2014

JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 22:18

How much do you think the board of organisers for "the anti aging show" get?
And the marketing managers of cosmetics companies?
Yes, im with them.

OP posts:
PersonOfInterest · 22/06/2014 22:25

Clearly one is a something that adult women pay to have done (for many different reasons)

The other is done to young girls, against their will, while they are held down. Some die. Some suffer all their lives as a consequence or require surgery.

These aren't comparable. You really need to set her straight.

JokersGiggle · 22/06/2014 22:27

My mother told me that men would put me down, crush my hopes and not let me succeed.
I worked bloody hard to get where I am. I've been brutal in my pursuit of success. And now im here its feminists that are putting me down. Feminist that are supposed to be celebrating that another women holds a high powered role that had been held by men for the last ten years.
Instead im told my success is a lie because of my age.
That's the part i'm most proud of and no one believes me.

OP posts:
KellyHopter · 22/06/2014 22:27

You're a nanny.

LoveSardines · 22/06/2014 22:28

Well you don't actually know whether the people posting are feminists or not.

There isn't a test people take before they are allowed to post or anything.

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 22/06/2014 22:29

Just because you posted in FWR doesn't mean all who respond self-identify as feminists, OP. So not sure what you mean by "feminists are putting me down"

KellyHopter · 22/06/2014 22:29

I'm sorry, I get you're not hurting anyone but come on!

It's nothing to do with feminists, don't start all that anti-sisterhood stuff.

You're fibbing online, big deal! Don't turn it into fodder for anti-feminists.

KellyHopter · 22/06/2014 22:31

If it helps, I very rarely post on this section.

In fact the usual FWR posters aren't really on this thread. Perhaps for good reason!

YouMakeMeHappy · 22/06/2014 22:31

Oh thank goodness it's all bull!!
