Hi all

i was at my friends house last night and he watching a stand up comic dvd from a comedian called Bill Burr during his show he talks about how the saying no reason to hit a woman is wrong.

Even though he says in the clip that he is against hitting women i still found it a little offensive.

Hear is the clip if anyone wants to watch it.

Think I'll give it a miss. Lazy sexist standups are ten a penny. Would much rather spend my time watching decent comedians instead of giving this attention seeker any time.
Is your friend an overt hater of women or is he the type to try and hide it behind "jokes"?

spence82 · 17/04/2014 13:12

To be honest no I've never known him to be sexist in anyway. It was the first time he'd watched it too.

The comedian had a small part in breaking bad since he's a big fan of the show he decided to see what his stand up was like.

the reason some women will do anything for a man who makes them laugh is because it's a rare skill in a man, most are just not very funny compared to women who can make one another cry with laughter

FloraFox · 17/04/2014 19:02

Never heard of him so I think I can't be arsed looking watching this just so I can be annoyed.

AICM · 17/04/2014 19:19

A really telling comment form Bifauxnen.

On the basis of no evidence at all about the OP's friend this:

"Is your friend an overt hater of women or is he the type to try and hide it behind "jokes"?"

It seems now that being in the same room as a TV broadcasting sexist comments means man must be an overt hater of women.

Stinkypinky73 · 17/04/2014 21:04

I hate male comedians....they are boring and I never laugh so can't face watching this 'joker'. SO true about women being funnier than men. One of my girlfriends is so sharp she has everyone in stitches and the men stand there not able to think of any kind of comeback.

Bifauxnen · 17/04/2014 23:14

It's fairly common knowledge what Bill Burrs style is. And I find hyperbole doesn't lend credibility to an already weak argument.

The last thing I really laughed at; Beyonce sexy face

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 18/04/2014 08:30

Most people don't own a DVD of a comedian they don't find funny, AI.

spence82 · 18/04/2014 09:37

Like I said he bought it as he knew he was in breaking bad and wanted to see what his stand up was like.

I don't think he's very popular in the UK as he's not done many shows here but fron what I've heard he's getting very popular in America

Sorry for the delay replying I was away for the weekend.

Let’s never let the facts or lack of facts get I the way of a bit of man bashing eh?

Without knowing ANY of the facts Bif declare that OP’s friend to be a woman hater.

We are then made aware of the facts. Which are; the OP’s friends knew nothing about the man’s stand-up and bought the DVD out of curiosity; and the OP's friend is still condemned by TheDoctrineOfSnatch even though the facts are that he did not know anything about the guy's style.

The more I read this board the more I find out that lots of feminists look for sexism hoping they will find and if they don’t find they accuse men of sexism anyway.

I've only been looking at this board for a few weeks and the relentless anti-men sexism here was worn me down. I'll leave you to your moaning.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 20/04/2014 18:17

"and the OP's friend is still condemned by TheDoctrineOfSnatch even though the facts are that he did not know anything about the guy's style."

You misunderstood my post. Mine was in response to yours about Bif. Bif first posted before OP said her friend hadn't seen the guy's stuff before buying the DVD. Mine was saying that normally people don't own a DVD of someone they don't find funny, so Bif's assumption that he did know it wasn't unreasonable.

My post wasn't as clear as it could have been and I meant to repost, but forgot. But to call my post a condemnation seems disproportionate.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 20/04/2014 18:17

But I see you are off now: bye!

Ah, sexism and gender stereotyping at its finest. How reassuring.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 22/04/2014 14:24

Welcome to FWR, Jeebus. Are you also going round the internet objecting when people say women aren't funny? That must keep you busy.

Jeebus · 22/04/2014 14:29

No, but are you saying two wrongs make a right? Either that comment was missed by every subsequent poster, or it was deemed acceptable on a board that fights sexism. Which is it?

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 22/04/2014 14:32

This board discusses feminism.

Hope that helps.

Jeebus · 22/04/2014 14:37

Yes, it helps immensely. It illustrates what you find acceptable, and what you do not. So thank you - thank you very much Thanks

Stinky's post didn't really ring true to me, it's a bit goady but troll-hunting is banned so...
I'm only human though and couldn't help but smirk to see the usual sentiment reversed even though it's petty - I'm aware it's a personal failing.
Mind you it is only one post on a forum, it's not like there is a huge "men aren't funny" trope.
And to go back a few posts, if I wanted to see what a comedian is like, I'd look them up on youtube first cos I'm tight

FloraFox · 22/04/2014 16:23

No doubt it helps jeebus immensely in his desire to write of feminism in its entirety on the basis of a comment by an anonymous (and possible troll). He'll be off to reddit or somewhere saying feminism is just as bad as sexism.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 22/04/2014 17:42

Stinky is certainly a vehement poster.

spence82 · 23/04/2014 10:09

Has anyone watched the clip?
