Why is it suddenly true that women have 2 types of orgasms now men have proved it?

Warning; Dail Fail link

According to the article it's been proven that women do in fact have 2 types of orgasm, clitoral and vaginal. Well no shit sherlock, ask most women they'll tell you that's true! Why is it only true now that it has been proven by men? Confused Again women's views being dismissed and men telling them how their bodies work and how they don't. Pisses me right off.

Can someone explain the edifference?

Neither pregnancy or childbirth made me "more aware, physically" of my sexual organs. I had two c-sections and I don't recall anyone having any particular interest in my genitalia, internal or external apart from one check on dilation which I remember was very painful.

None the less in my late 30s/40s I have found that I am much much more easily turned on and have orgasms very quickly where in my 20s I didn't have them at all (my children were born when I was 28 and 29).

I thought older women being at the peak of their sex drive was well known (although thinking about it that makes no sense at all so perhaps an old wives tale).

I've certainly had a few organisms that were quite different. Slow burners as opposed to the usual intense but short high. I've also squirted once or twice (not related though). The other issue that I've experienced is that either I'm getting bigger or dh is getting smaller (or both!)

Childbirth has mad a massive difference to my sexual awareness, the type of activity I enjoy and the ease of pleasure.

Erm...one of the main researchers is a woman. Where does it say that 'men' have now proved it?

The OP presumably saw "medical researchers" and just presumed that meant men.

'Cos that's not sexist at all. Oh no. Smile

All orgasms are clitoral. Just the clitoris is a large organ and most of it is inside your body.

TiggyCBE · 20/03/2014 17:49

How the hell were men supposed to know that? They've usually left by then.

Thecrazy88 · 21/03/2014 13:37

My older sister told me when I was about 14 that "it's the biggest lie going that women get orgasms from [penetrative] sex". I believed her and nothing in my own experience has ever proved otherwise Sad

Grennie · 22/03/2014 11:30

A very small proportion of women do get orgasms from penetrative sex. But it is small. And all the theories are that even then, it is actually from clitoral stimulation.

The vagina itself is actually not that sensitive. Just think about it logically - do you get any pleasure from inserting a tampax? No. Your clitoris on the otherhand is very very sensitive.

Actually BOTH researchers were women. Odile and Emmanuelle. The clue is in the names.

I'm not seeing anything to get upset about here. Theories are proven through experimentation, not through people's individual anecdotes.

Personally I only have one type and have always been very sceptical of the assertion that there are two types, so it's interesting to see this research.

Bue · 23/03/2014 10:27

Ah, I concede that the second name is Emmanuele, not Emmanuelle! Hence he is probably an Italian male, not a French female. I still don't feel outraged though. Smile
