I read this article yesterday & was gobsmacked at the obstacles that had to be overcome, especially in a nuclear, space faring country.

It's well worth a read -

When you read that 23% of girls drop out of school when they start menstruating (in India) you realise how hard it is to get a basic education, let alone stand a chance of "making it" in any way.

Hopefully he's started off the process of educating people, removing the stigma of menstruation and even creating some employment in some of the poorest, most neglected areas of the world.
