City vs. Chelsea. Mourinho certainly did a number on Pellegrini, I think we can all agree on that.

curlew · 05/02/2014 11:45

How men suffer under the patriarchy.

First bloody meeting, and apparently it took 10 minutes to get round to what a difficult time men have.

Just like Mumsnet, really!

duchesse · 05/02/2014 11:47

FFS. Really?

whatdoesittake48 · 05/02/2014 11:48

cross posted...:)

Who was chairing this meeting/setting the agenda. the girls themselves or a teacher?

To be fair, it is a reasonable topic, but surely not a starting point. After all we all know men and have them in our lives and care about them. However it could have been a few weeks down the line after the real reason for feminism was tackled.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 05/02/2014 11:49

oh, fuck, fuck, fuck!
Is this a mixed group or girls only?

MothratheMighty · 05/02/2014 11:49

OMG, you give them freewill and look at what they do with it!
Will your DD steer them back onto the straight and narrow?
On the other hand, if you can use the enemies' weaknesses and self-interest against them, it's easier to know where to put the lever in order to effect change.

curlew · 05/02/2014 11:54

It's a mixed group-student led. It was started by a couple of year 12 girls. Dd's in year 13 and she said she decided she didn't want to be too outspoken in the first meeting because she didn't want to discourage them. It's a boy's school with a mixed 6th so stating th group at all was a brilliant thing to do. But she says she won't hold back next week if necessary.

Is the discussion dominated by boys? It would be interesting, as a piece of research, for one of them to time the relative amount of time boys and girls spend talking and see how it relates to the numbers of both in the group. It could be a real eye-opener.

freyasnow · 05/02/2014 11:58

I think the issue is surely not that they discussed it but how much time it was discussed for. If it took up most of the meeting, that should be pointed out.

But then I personally wouldn't join a mixed feminist group, so I have no useful advice on how you actually deal with that situation.
