Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone had any memories of reading Jackie magazine in the 1960s, or similar magazines? This is one of those annoying dissertation threads but what I'm looking at is the change in gender roles in the 1960s as displayed in media and literature, and at the moment I'm looking at the difference between Church literature and new magazines.
So if you're willing to reply I'd be very grateful - was there anything unusual or shocking to you in the magazine? Did it tell you anything about who you could be as a girl/woman that didn't mean being a wife and a mother?
Thanks in advance for anybody willing to answer - I won't use anything in my dissertation from the thread I'd just like to get a feel of the readership's response to its content.
