here

The article is about probation / police agencies losing track of a stack of serious sex offenders.

This is what made me twitch at work:

"Conservative London Assembly member Tony Arbour said Londoners would be alarmed that 159 criminals "such as rapists and paedophiles" were lost."

Yes too right.

"The Met Police says the number varies because the information is dynamic and will change as arrests are made."

Makes logical sense re numbers.

"Under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (Mappa), the national probation service, HM Prison Service and the Met are responsible for managing serious sexual and violent criminals once they complete their sentence."

Yup OK.

The figures were released to Mr Arbour by the Met under the Freedom of Information Act.

WHAT MR ARBOUR SAYS:

"Londoners will be alarmed that the authorities are losing serious criminals such as rapists and paedophiles who may commit further crimes.
If some of the 'wanted' offenders have left the country, as the police say, what is to stop them from re-entering our borders?"

Well that's what's SUPER important, isn't it. Not to try and pursue these "lost" sex offenders, or to alert the countries in question that they likely have a serious sex offender arriving / recently arrived / to keep an eye out for.

Oh no. Mr Arbour, our fine Conservative LA member, is more concerned that they might come back here and ? claim benefits and / or attack OUR women and children. He is apparently unconcerned at any crimes that a lost-track-of rapist or paedophile might commit abroad. If it's not here, it doesn't matter, is what he is saying.

So. WTF do you do with men like this? There's a basic lack of compassion or understanding for anyone who, basically, isn't him, is there. I sense his outrage is more to do with Forriners than rapists TBH.

And he is in power.

Great.

Completely agree. Not a little racist and completely the wrong priorities. There's a surprise, from a white guy who needn't worry about these criminals attacking him.
