www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/10468558/Robin-Thicke-made-a-mistake-with-Blurred-Lines-says-Simon-Le-Bon.html

One of the few singers to comment on him and not miley I think?

I disagree with them Robin Thicke isn't a misogynist though

Le Bon is mostly right, but I'm not sure about the "he's not a misogynist" thing either. At best, I think he really doesn't give a fuck about what messages it sends out. The most offensive thing about Robin Thicke is that he tried to claim it was a parody of all those videos w/ scantily clad women in, and that somehow they were empowered. There's no parody or empowerment there.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 27/11/2013 16:05

And what was the Duran Rio video all about Simon, hmmmm?

ShirakawaKaede · 27/11/2013 16:13

Good point, Trucks!

CaptChaos · 27/11/2013 16:59

I would love to hear Simon le Bon's definition of a misogynist then if recording a song which (at best) says that when a woman says no, she actually means yes and a video which is pretty offensive as well, doesn't make you one. Hmm

Another man who thinks he's better qualified to comment on what misogyny is, than women are.

SplitHeadGirl · 27/11/2013 20:59

Of course Thicke is a misogynist!! What do have to do in order to be called WOMEN HATERS?? Yet the term 'man-hater' is bandied about will and nilly!!

SplitHeadGirl · 27/11/2013 21:00

*What do MEN have to do....

theladyrainy · 27/11/2013 21:04

Girls on film was not too far removed from blurred lines. SLB may have changed his views now that he has daughters though.

BasilBabyEater · 27/11/2013 21:29

Good point SHG. Even when they murder women, most people don't think that a bit of misogyny might be involved.

SplitHeadGirl · 27/11/2013 21:36

Yes, exactly BBE!!! Most just put it down to 'evil people' (they always say people, rather than men) and I really think so many women are scared of being labelled 'man-haters' whereas it doesn't bother me at all.

It is bandied about so much, yet the term 'woman-hater' doesn't have HALF the influence and is hardly ever used.

Maybe because no one cares if people hate women?? Sad

BasilBabyEater · 27/11/2013 21:53

Well there is that.

I've given up giving a shit about being called a man-hater because I realised a while ago that even if you are reasonable and stress endlessly that you don't blame men, it's the patriarchy etc., you will be accused by someone of being a man-hater.

So you may as well say right out what you think without all the ego-massaging and treading on eggshells to head off the attack.

SplitHeadGirl · 27/11/2013 22:01

Yeah...I don't care either if people think I hate men. I do hate A LOT of men, because a lot of them are scumbags.

I do though, LOVE women....I love our energy, our resilience, our complete strength, our compassion, our ability to get together and chat, our hard-workiness (no such word but I hope you get what I mean)!!

Robin Thicke and his ilk want to reduce us to body parts because their tiny, stupid brains can't cope with women who are BETTER and SMARTER than the ridiculous, entitled males!
