Before I begin, please don't think this is an Australia-bashing thread. It's not...my DC are half Australian and parts of the country I love.

BUT.....I am currently considering the possibility of living there in a couple of years. The realisation that prostitution is legal in some states..all? While brothels are not legal in some but are in others....this upsets me.

In Adelaide there is a yearly "Sex Exhibition" or some such thing where I assume they sell sex aids and other things related to the industry goes on.

This all puts me off...wasn't till' I joined MN about 5 years ago that I learned why prostitution is a bad thing...and why...I always thought, if it's a woman's choice then why's it bad? But now I know the facts....how most are victims of abuse and other things...I'm thinking abuot the country my daughters will grow up in....can I cope with that as something that's an intrinsic part of the place?

When I lived in London I found all those adds for prostitutes in phone booths vile. You couldn't find a phone booth without one. I have never seen one phone booth here in Australia with those sorts of adds pasted in them.
