My year 8 ds has just been telling me all about this. Is it just me didn't know about it?

Wow, I had no idea...

I feel sad that this element of history is so unknown, considering so much of women's history is I recorded, surely something like this should be more prominent?

Glad your ds is learning about it anyway

I knew about it, from university. I have a vague memory I wrote an essay on the role of women in 17th Century Britain and went on about Elizabeth Lilburne and others.

I have to admit to finding much of 17th Century history quite dull, even given all the groups like the Levellers. I'm more of a 19th century woman.

Intriguing. Thank you for posting that.

Never heard of this. Thanks for posting curlew. It makes me sad how little history about women I was taught.

curlew · 23/10/2013 13:02

What makes me cross is that I have a daughter who went through a well regarded girl's school and studied no women's history at all! Sad

That is shocking. You would have thought they would be on the ball with it. Sad to hear they are not.
