This thread started when we all decided to imagine what the perfect local for feminists would be like. So far, it has taps with plenty of good real ale, and some decent non-alcoholic alternatives too. There are comfy chairs and there's a feminist film night, as well as lots of nice feminist-friendly books on the shelves and space to curl up and read. The open-mic nights are attracting feminist singers and comedians, and we're just sorting out the feminist creche.

Please come along, draw up a stool, and have a good chat about whatever you fancy - as serious or as trivial as you like.

I forgot to mention I'm here with a new name. If you figure out who I am please don't blurt it out, one of my offspring worked out my last (bloody genius) name.

Oh how annoying DoctorTwo. I got outed recently and had to abandon my old name in all its variants. I didn't mind really, except for on FWR. I keep wanting to go up to people all "It is me, LeClerc", but that would rather undermine the name change.

It is bloody annoying. I don't post often in FWR, but I lurk here quite a bit.

It really was,surely,the excessive nature of the sentences that illustrated the oppression the Pussy Riot women are trying to highlight. It was surely the excessive nature of the sentences that many were opposed to.

I can only guess,but I would imagine the women were fully aware that they could face arrest,and,again I would guess, unsure of just how serious the charges they might face could be.

I would urge you to watch the documentary.

I found it inspirational to watch three women with such courage and strength of conviction. And that's what really shone through for me.

I have clashed with AF in the past (never over her relationship advice) and I have seen her get ratty with goady posters, but I have never seen her do anything I'd consider worthy of a ban.
