Exactly Buffy, the teachers have a choice about whether to work there or not. The girl children have no choice, and the boys are being indoctrinated into a lifestyle that insists on their higher status.

I used to mix up my groups in primary, against parental complaints.
If I said, 'Sit where you like' I'd have groups of Pakistani boys, girls, Bengali boys and girls all segregated along sex and racial lines. Boys with the prime positions and all the equipment, girls at the back. No arguments.
Even if they had to move furniture to ensure the groupings stayed pure.

I despair.

Are they allowed to do this because it's a free school?

How are they getting away with this? Hiding behind religion I suppose.

According to some reports the boys go to lunch first as well. The girls have to wait until the boys have got their food. Reminds me of certain parts of the world where its customary for men and boys to be served first and women and girls eat whatever's left over separately/later.
