How do I best go about complaining about this advert?

I understand that employment laws are different in Kuwait, but surely an advert for a secretary seeking female applicants only is illegal in this country?

Maybe look at the Advertising Standards Authority website for info. I've just complained about an ad using their site.

Aaargh! The ad I complained about is now following me round the internet. Even on Mumsnet!

Maybe they have a quota for female employees?

Thanks TIR.

Um, Sausage, I doubt it very much. Both because equal opportunities aren't so far advanced in Kuwait that they would be taking positive steps to recruit more females into the work force, but also because it is surely not a coincidence that the post is for a secretary, rather than an executive...

I have seen ads in the UK press for execs to go and work in areas like that, asking for men and saying that they would pay for "wives" to go with them.

As it's not a UK/Europe job obv the laws for those areas dont' apply so not sure how successful a complaint would be. You'd have to come at it from the angle of being offended I guess which is trickier maybe than if they were a UK company doing it and thus breaking the law.
