I felt compelled to write this post after reading a book by Toni Kent called Reasons To Be Cheerful. It was recommended to me so I downloaded it on my Kindle, with the satisfaction of knowing that part of my money would be given directly to charity.
The book tells the tale in blog form of a 30 something professional woman who goes from living on a council estate in Basingstoke to corporate professional with Microsoft, to freelancer and all round much happier mother.
The final chapter is written with such heartfelt honesty and grace that I challenge anyone to remain dry eyed.
This is no man-bashing angst-ridden fiction, it is a truthful and light account of exactly what it feels like for a girl: during her teens, twenties, corporate career, motherhood, friend and lover. I loved it and had fun downloading the accompanying music that Toni personally chose to accompany each blog. Excellent stuff and I look forward to reading her next book.
