The 20 year sentence for this is absurd.

That being said, this page suggests that it's not quite as clear-cut a case as the OP's link makes it seem.

V. Interesting snorbs. Still the sentence seems disproportionate, she may not be a saint, but 20 years for this is crazy.

She was offered a plea bargain of 3 years but refused. Given her legal team must have known she would end up with a mandatory 20 years (no wiggle room for the judge) that seems almost criminal on their part itself.

The case is far more complex than a lot of press would have it, but the key issue is the insanity of having a "mandatory" sentence with no accounting for circumstances.
