I don't know what is more shocking.
The fact that nobody stood up to defend her in the carriage or the fact that Northern Rail actually seek out cretins to employ, both on the train and in their head office.

Unfortunately there are still total ignoramuses that have no clue as to how to behave in a civilised society. I would have definitely spoke up had I heard someone speak to a young mother that way. Disgusting.

I never had a problem, bf on trains a lot and that was over 20 years ago, and not the law then.
Let's hope that the re-education is effective.

Actually it's been protected since the Sexual Discrimination Act of 1975 - so that's nearly 40 years for people to catch up to the idea that they can't stop you breastfeeding in public places or refuse you service because you do so.

The Equalities act gave a clearer statement, but it's actually been illegal to discriminate against it for a very long time.

We do not have a written policy on this issue because it is the law that a woman should not be discriminated against while breastfeeding on a public service. This goes beyond the law, of course, because it is morally wrong to do so. We are grateful to Miss Nicholls for bringing this to our attention.

Physical verbal and sexual harassment are also illegal but I bet they have a written policy regarding them.

I won't even piss in a train toilet because they are so disgusting and more importantly if you get bounced around while perching yourself on (what a toilet?) you're bound to hurt you or the baby and seriously piss off an entire coach of people who need a wee. BF used to take me ages
