It is illegal to tamper with official government record, it's all over twitter. The vote has to be declared void.

I do not think the President can step in. SCOTUS can though.

The States do have some autonomy, that's part of why we have States.

Wendy Davis is my new hero too. In the centenary of Emily Davison throwing herself under the Kings horse women are still putting themselves on the line physically and mentally for fellow women's rights. So many things have changed in that time - and yet - watching a Senate full of men bending and breaking rules to pass anti-women legislation I can't help but feel that things aren't that different.

The interplay of modern technology as the eyes of the world is a fascinating aspect although it didn't affect the results of the Presidential Election in 2000 where they got W.Bush anyway!
