Anyone see this new comedy by Jessica Hynes? Any thoughts?

Independent review

I thought it was a bit stumbly but a scene-setting first episode but good moments and might develop into something quite interesting.

It opens with some excellent mansplaining.

I found it quite funny, dh wandererd off to the kitchen to tidy up. An unexpected bonus Wink

I really liked it, but I like Jessica Hynes anyway.
I loved how the anti suffrage woman was so petty and childish!

I've sky plussed it. Will report back later. But I love Jessica Hynes so I'm predisposed to like it Smile

I thought it was funny - although I can't work out how someone so young could have 14 children. I'll wait and see how it develops before giving it an official yay or nay though.

I loved the mansplaining at the beginning - thought that was properly hilarious and really well executed. I really liked the quite vacant woman who needed to have it explained which of her children would be able to vote. Thought she was very funny.

Otherwise it was a bit static, like it had been a radio show and had had the visual gag about the peonies inserted. But give it time. This apparently is a three episode test run.

The electricity mansplaining was perfect.
I liked the crap Battle of Waterloo embroidery, too.

Agree Phyllis, it was static.

I enjoyed it. I love Rebecca Front.

It was a bit slow-paced, but the theme music was a lovely choice.

It is depressing that the arguments that are meant to be hilarious parodies have come up on here from MRA twits with a fair bit of regularity.
