I think it's important that the buyers' choices in prostitution are highlighted and shared. This project was linked to on FB. Thoughts? I think it's a great idea.

The base of the argument is prostitutes are 'victims' of which I believe they are not.
Most prostitutes enter into sex trade because they see it as 'easier' money.
Especially here in the UK, almost all prostitutes enter the industry willingly. Its very very rare for anyone to be forced into prostitution or the sex industry.
If someone is willing to sell themselves, treat the whole thing as a transaction then don't moan when the 'buyer' treats one as a commodity.
If the punters didn't have any money, they certainly wouldn't be having sex with anyone.

Just in case someone thinks otherwise, I have never or intend to use the services of a prostitute and to add mrsArsenal might not like it either.

Tortoiseontheeggshell · 08/05/2013 02:36

Nooo, the basis of the argument is that men who use prostitutes are utter cunts.

HTH.

Tortoiseontheeggshell · 08/05/2013 02:38

And look how quickly even this thread turns into a conversation about the choices of the women!

We're talking about the choices of the men. To use women's bodies as cum receptacles and then deride them online. That's the POINT of the project.

Are a third of the punters female, goodsongs, or is that a nice little piece of disingenuity there?

You can find information on the percentage of male sex workers, but not on the percentage of female customers?

What's your position on the number of violent attacks perpetrated on sex workers by their male customers, goodsongs? Or should we all focus on one email purportedly by a feminist, instead?

Interesting choice of priorities.

I know this is just a supposition but I strongly suspect that most male prostitutes in the uk are servicing other men, rather than women looking for a quick shag. And I'd never attack a sex worker in any way. They are just trying to make their bread, I understand that, I've done it myself.
The men on the other hand, who think that think they should be able to pay in order to use someone else to improve their 'orgasm experience', yuck, utterly depraved individuals.

For all intent and purposes women are prostitutes and men are punters. It redundant to argue otherwise.
Also the vast majority of male prostitutes are indeed servicing men.

men who use prostitutes are utter cunts.
Honestly, what makes these men cunts?
What about the women that sell their bodies?

Tortoiseontheeggshell
I don't see why we shouldn't discuss women's choices.
If you decide to sell your body, then you have decided to treat yourself as a commodity.
Its like a wealthy man that joins a 'sugardaddy' dating site, he will be treated like a commodity. I would have no sympathy for the man if he's new GF dumps him because he lost his money.

WhentheRed
These women are not victims!!
And yes the vast vast majority enter into the industry willingly. I challenge you to prove me wrong.
The police have spent millions and countless operations but they still fail to find people trafficked into sex work. It was actually a police officer friend of mine that got me to dig a little deeper about prostitution.
The fact or the matter is there are millions of prostitutes around the world who are willing to work here because they will earn a lot more money than they would in their home country.

As for violence against prostitute, wouldn't be surprised if the ratio of violent punters is similar to the general population.

Funny how the arguments against men who use prostitutes are similar to arguments against women who have a 'lot' of sexual partners.
ie. it dehumanise people etc...
