I think it's important that the buyers' choices in prostitution are highlighted and shared. This project was linked to on FB. Thoughts? I think it's a great idea.

style you stated it in this thread. That makes it your statement.

Not hard, really.

Whenthered, the opening line stopped me reading. In this article I will not deal with the complex issue of whether prostitution is socially or otherwise desirable.

Surely the while point here is whether prostitution is socially or otherwise desirable? But again, this webpage is all about the sex workers, whereas we're trying to talk about the men who buy sex here.

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:24

The webpage is all about the sex workers, but from the viewpoint of someone who is a sex worker herself. Doesn't that count for anything?

FloraFox · 08/08/2013 00:26

What do you think it should count for?

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 00:28

Well when we're talking about the men who buy sex...no, not really. And it is almost exclusively men who buy sex. Almost all of these discussions talk about the woman's choices, but - did you read GoshAnn's post upthread?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:29

Noone knows better on the topic than the prostitutes/sex workers themselves. Wouldn't you agree?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:32

If you want to read about the men so badly then why not have a look over at the site that begins with "punter" and ends with "net.com"

GoshAnneGorilla · 08/08/2013 00:32

It is very sinister that nothing in this section seems to bring out the trolls and mansplainers more then saying that women should not be for sale.

If they were truly concerned about women and women's rights we'd see them quoting studies and the work of women on other topics too, but no, this seems to be the only "freedom" they care about.

Why is it these men make the choice to be so concerned with ensuring prostitution is so acceptable?

P.S I do think that by centering the discussion on men's choices, it offers an important perspective, that is often overlooked. There is a lot of privilege in never having your choices questioned.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 00:33

Erm - the "invisible men' quotes come from p u n t e r n e t. What is your opinion of them?

FloraFox · 08/08/2013 00:40

Didn't you call Brooke Magnanti a "stupid prostituted woman"? Your position across different threads has been highly contradictory. Were you lying then or are you lying now?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:45

How do we know the "quotes" aren't made up?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:47

It just says "source:Punternet UK" but where abouts on Punternet UK? How can we verify they aren't just made up or words have been twisted?

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 00:47

Which quotes?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:49

The stuff on the invisible men page.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 00:50

The Invisible Men quotes? Do you think there's any way they can have been twisted that make them ok?

We've all (on here) had a peak at at p**t - we know what they're like. So do you think this is ok?

FloraFox · 08/08/2013 00:50

I'm not sure who "we" is. If you think they are made up or twisted, why don't you go and check it out.

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 00:53

I'm not accusing anyone of making up fibs, but it would have been nice if below each one it gave the link to the exact page on punternet just to clear up any doubt.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 00:54

Well, perhaps. But your comments on the contents of those quotes? You're remarkable reticent.

FloraFox · 08/08/2013 01:00

What are you actually saying? You haven't contributed anything of value to this thread. You threw in some statistics that were proved to be wrong then you tried to disclaim your connection with them. Then you provide a link to a website with no commentary on why anyone should spend their time to read it. Then you say no-one knows more about prostitution than women in prostitution (despite calling BM a "stupid prostituted woman" on another thread. When it's pointed out to you that the discussion is actually about the punters, you start blabbing on about whether the quotes in the Invisible Men project are real, but you're not actually accusing anyone of making up fibs.

I see you are new here so you may not realise that you are starting to come over as troll-ish.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 01:04

I wonder why you'd call BM a stupid prostituted woman? If you then link to the links you did? Strange. Almost as if you had some hidden agenda. I don't agree with BM but I'd never call her "stupid".

runningforthebusinheels · 08/08/2013 01:07

What do you think of the Invisible men quotes, style? Are you a punter yourself? If yes, would the thought of being put on the sex offenders register deter you from seeking out prostitutes?

stylenadlife · 08/08/2013 01:09

Well to be put on the sex offender's list you would need to be convicted first right? And if the prostitute doesn't testify against the punter how do you get a conviction?

FloraFox · 08/08/2013 01:15

You clearly have no idea about criminal law.
