I think it's important that the buyers' choices in prostitution are highlighted and shared. This project was linked to on FB. Thoughts? I think it's a great idea.

Myself just like the vast majority of men have no inclination of ever visiting a prostitute.
Im arguing because i believe the punters are not 'abusers' and the prostitutes are not 'victims.'
Meaning if that's the case, why should we get involved.

YoniTime · 19/05/2013 00:12

Why would you argue that punters are not abusers on a thread linking to horribly abusive shit punters say - if you aren't passionate about defending prostitution?

Lioninthesun · 19/05/2013 00:47

Arse the trouble with your stance is that you cannot prove that EVERY SINGLE PROSTITUTE has willingly chosen to sell her body. Even if just a small percentage aren't there of their own free will, surely it is better to challenge this than not?
Let's not get involved because it doesn't directly affect us is a very poor way to live life.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2013 01:03

Minimum wage is just that. The bare MINIMUM. It is not a living wage.

i would never look down on a woman who works as a prostitute or an escort for a living.
Looks like the same cant be said for certain other "im alright jacks" ARSE.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 19/05/2013 01:03

But there is no evidence whatsoever that most prostitutes working in Britain are forced/trafficked/yadedahdah. As mentioned earlier, Operations Pentameter I and II (

Lioninthesun · 19/05/2013 01:18

You put a lot of trust in the police knowing all brothels springing up under organisations that can be linked to smuggling and drugs/weapons smuggling...
Sadly a lot of people believe that just because they have targeted 'known' brothels doesn't mean there isn't a large operation functioning underground.

arsenaltilidie · 19/05/2013 01:27

Lion Let's not get involved because it doesn't directly affect us is a very poor way to live life.
Lets not get involved because both parties are happy with it. I may have my views on the whole industry but at the end of the day its no one's business as long as no laws are broken.

Dark minimum wage is shite, but it still does not give a reason for someone to enter into prostitution.
So you would look down on men that visit?

arsenaltilidie · 19/05/2013 01:33

Lion how would a large underground prostitution function if the punters don't know about it.
Believe me police know about brothels.

Anyway why would there be a need to go underground unless they are doing something illegal.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2013 01:50

Yes i DO look down on men that visit. Because they think its ok to buy women and think of them as a receptacle not a person.
If there was no demand there would be no supply. So why do you keep blaming the women.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2013 01:51

All these high street shops that are going to the wall.
Because people arent shopping there any more.
Like i said no demand = no supply.

FloraFox · 19/05/2013 06:27

OLKH three things:

  1. Please outline the methodology and outcomes of Operations Pentameter and how those operations demonstrate that there are no trafficked women, no otherwise coerced women and no women in prostitution as a result of abuse, addiction or mental health problems. Please tell us to what extent this is your own analysis and to what extent it regurgitates the output of the pimp/punter lobby spewed on their lapdogs.
  1. Please explain how absence of evidence equals evidence of absence.
  1. Please explain why it is acceptable for a punter to rape a woman in prostitution because he is "fairly sure" that another prostitute would have had sex with him for cash without coercion. Should this defence be available to all rapists if they are "fairly sure" that a woman consents because another woman wearing the same clothes or in the same nightclub would have consented? If not, is it because the consent of a woman in prostitution does not matter as much as they consent of another woman?
TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 19/05/2013 06:41

Hi OLKN

None of what you have posted addresses the typical background for a significant proportion of prostitutes (abuse, drug use etc).

FrickingFedUp · 19/05/2013 08:14

Yodadoctor - why do you have to have sex with escorts, what is wrong with having consensual and mutually satisfying sex or perhaps even relationships with women your own age? Or is that not quite the dynamic/ power balance you're after? Honest question.

BigBlockSingsong · 19/05/2013 08:47

Out of curiosity I just had a look on 'punternet' there is a section where women warn fellow escorts about dangerous punters,I wonder if any get arrested.

Someone mentioned a story further up about someone googling a suspected prozzie, its not just men, my hairdresser told a prostitute nearly got the flat next to me and encouraged me to see what a lucky escape I had.

Bunnylion · 19/05/2013 09:45

arsenal you're getting the argument confused here. It's not simply a question of whether prostitution is legal or not to help us guide our moral compass on the punters and the OP of the punters online reviews.

Let's all acknowledge that we can't know for sure why a specific woman has become a prostitute. For that very reason it is clearly morally wrong to pay her for sex and plead ignorant once you've had your fill, even if she is doing it legally and hasn't been trafficked. And (back to the OP) it is clearly dehumanising to post a review online with descriptions of how you choked a woman on your penis or were angry that she was stopping you having deep penetration because she was clearly in pain.

Second fold prostitution has a wider detrimental effect on society that I explained yesterday morning.

Wondering wether you were a troll (bit weird claiming to be a man who would NEVER use a prostitute but is lurking around a feminist board defending punters to the hilt on your own one man crusade) , I searched your username on mumsnet. In other threads you have been telling women to get over their trust issues when they've found their husbands have been on Adultwork looking for prostitutes, telling another woman that it's none of her business to be concerned if her elderly dad has many 17 year old girlfriends. If you really are married I would be interested to hear what your wife thinks of your arguments on mumsnet.

Personally I'm not going to continue to discuss the issue of punters with someone who appears to have such a juvenile and narrow minded view of adult relationships.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 19/05/2013 10:08

Punter 18 insisted a woman have sex with him a second time after some, ahem, "discussion":

I don't like to coerce anyone or feel like I'm forcing the girl to do anything she doesn't want to do, but £200 is a lot.....

This punters entitlement to use a woman's body as he pleases because he's paid £200 completely overrules his whole sense of human decency.

arsenaltilidie · 19/05/2013 10:48

Bunny telling women to get over their trust issues when they've found their husbands have been on Adultwork looking for prostitutes you lie.
's none of her business to be concerned if her elderly dad has many 17 year old girlfriends I think she was in her early 20s, they had a child who the man provided for, he was a good dad etc. His exWife and her sibling where all pretty fine with him.

Anyway i don't need your help if you are trying to character assassinate me Hmm.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 19/05/2013 10:59

Anyway i don't need your help if you are trying to character assassinate me

That, at least, is true

arsenaltilidie · 19/05/2013 11:07
Wink
BasilBabyEater · 19/05/2013 13:39

"I don't like to coerce anyone or feel like I'm forcing the girl to do anything she doesn't want to do, but £200 is a lot..... "

So if I've paid that much, I've got the right to rape her, right?

Vile bastards.

yoorovision · 19/05/2013 15:08

"Vile bastard"

Fixed for you. I don't see how anyone else is responsible for the actions or words of that one individual.

Look at all those punters trying to defend punting. They don't give a fuck about women do they.

Sunnywithshowers · 19/05/2013 16:17

Defending their right to buy sex. Sigh.

Darkesteyes · 19/05/2013 17:07

Thanks for clearing the mists regarding arsenal Bunnylion.

This explains a lot.
