offensive lap dancing shop fronts

I have exhausted all possibilities in Edinburgh council to complain about a 1metre high shop front in the centre of town with silhouette of a kneeling naked woman facing another naked woman, holding her hips.(Explain lesbian oral sex to my 10 year old on the bus which stops outside it.) I have been referred to the Advertising Standards authority, who said it is not their ambit, tried Trading Standards who won't deal with consumers. Local council and citizen advice suggest I go to the Advertising authority..Has anyone had any success at this, I am sick of my two daughters looking at sex on the high street but no one seems to care anymore.

I'd deface it. And if charged explain that you'd gone done all the legal routes to have it removed.

How do you know they're naked if they're in silhouette?

Also did you really have to explain lesbian oral sex? Could you not say she has fallen or any other child friendly excuse?

No idea why in Scotland it is different to England and Wales. Here it is part of their license and depending on the council they can lose their license for explicit advertising. Because Scotland has it's own laws and has merged police forces it is probably confused.

Long story, but Edinburgh Council are pretty useless on this.

I'm not sure what part of Edinburgh it's in, but Malcolm Chisolm, MSP for Edinburgh North & Leith has taken up issues like this before. Kez Dugdale is MSP for Lothian and also has a special interest in this area. Even if they can't do anything directly about council matters, they can probably advise on steps that can be taken, and put pressure on those who can do things. Good luck.
