Sounds like the guy's miffed that there're probably now more 'bronies' (adult fans of MLP, mostly but not exclusively male) than MRAs, and we've got better songs than them! Lots of guys are learning about patriarchy and feminism and stuff as a result of being in the fandom...we might not know all the words yet, but we're getting there!

(PS: His analysis of the show is completely wrong, btw...it's definitely got a strong feminist message but is in no way 'misandrist' - didn't know that was even a word until tonight, lol!)

I am very worried by this thread. Both my DS have watched numerous episodes of MLP.
Do you think they'll be OK? I had no idea the show was so misandrist/ misandristic ??

It gladdens my heart every time I read an MRA thing - not because the content doesn't utterly depress me - but because the very fact that silly, angry, stamping feet MRAs exist at all PROVES that we are getting somewhere!! Victorian men didn't need an MRA movement - they were IN CHARGE and knew it!! Today's male supremacy is, very quietly, in a very small way, under threat and on the way out!

Breathe it softly, but I have a "brony" in the family (he even wears a pony T-shirt ffs - am thinking about disowning him actually). He would like it placed on record that most of the critique of MLP was incorrect in regard to the relative strengths of the male/female characters. Although there are more female characters than male, he feels they are pretty well-balanced in strength. There have been a few episodes where male characters have been the central focus, and several Big Bads (eg Nightmare Moon, Queen of the Changelings) have been female. Therefore, the argument falls down on accuracy before you even get into the bogus politics.

(Before you challenge the disowning statement, I would do the same for a daughter if I had any.)
