Unusual request at the eyebrow bar.

I visit an eyebrow bar for the obvious reasons and got chatting with the young lady who was shaping my eyebrows. She was telling me how rude some people can be. On a few occasions she has been asked by men if she can 'thread' around their dicks and do their armpits. She explained that this made her feel "uncomfortable" and "stupid" - these were her exact words. She said she is not allowed to say anything to them and has to ignore it. I was outraged on her behalf.
Is this type of unusual request supposed to be a joke or what?

I don't understand why she isn't "allowed" to say anything, any more than when a customer of any other service uses language that is unacceptable, intimidating and constitutes a form of sexual harassment. I know you may not actually speak to her again, but if you do, suggest she speaks with her line manager about this. Employers have a duty of care to their employees to ensure they aren't subject to sexual, racial, etc. harassment and her firm should have a policy on this.

It is an awkward situation, as she often works there alone and it must be difficult to know what to say or do. I think there are times when she feels vulnerable.

Ok so not allowed to speak to them (who would want to?) but can she get a loud hailer and bellow "Pathetic stupid little man alert". Or smack 'em?

Surely it would suffice to say, politely but firmly, "I only do eyebrows".

Poor woman-she should be allowed to decline to thread them if they harass her.

Are these genuine enquiries or arseholish comments?

I can't see why a man asking if she does armpits makes her feel stupid?

Maybe the men are making genuine enquiries.

Lots of things about this thread are confusing me.

1. I didn't realize men go to have their eyebrows plucked??
2. What is threading - are they having something threaded into their eyebrows?
3. Where do the armpits come into it? Are they having something threaded in too?

The only thing I am not confused about is the notion that if men are now attending beauticians to have their eyebrows plucked then they are confusing it with sexual services. Men never seem to get that women touching them could be anything other than sexual - hence nurse jokes etc

Plenty of men get back, sack and crack waxes and manzilians where I go to get my fanny waxed. I doubt they see it as any more sexual than women do (I.e not at all!)

rosabud threading is a way of removing hair.
