here

It is pleasingly snarky.

brilliant!! utterly ace.

MmeLindor · 25/10/2012 13:47

Brilliant.

Great point about the We Believe You and the Miscarriage Campaign. And I totally agree about the word FeMEnism being totally pretentious and plain .

YoullLaughAboutItOneDay · 25/10/2012 13:57

Good article.

Depressing though. I sometimes wish I believed that there was no need for feminism anymore, that it wasn't relevant. It must be pretty good being an ostrich when you have two daughters....

Then again, I think I'll stick with trying to make the world a better place for them.

MmeLindor · 25/10/2012 19:20

We have to, haven't we? The alternative is too awful.

Firawla · 25/10/2012 19:26

I did that survey, but even the way the questions were asked you could see what angle they were going for. was a very leading survey, not particularly neutral at all. Was not too impressed with it

ConsiderCasey · 25/10/2012 19:31

All part of the divide and conquer really....

EmpressOfTheSevenScreams · 25/10/2012 19:46

Great. Wonder if Louise Pennington's a Mumsnetter? She even used disingenuous.

Smile Stewie.

On reflection, you know, I think feMEnism is quite a useful term - I'm going to use it in a derogatory way to talk about the worst extremes of choice feminism. It brings out the solipsistic and selfish nature of it quite well. It's not something anyone will feel good about signing up to.

It was extremely good to read an article that cut right to the truth about that survey and feminism, instead of the shit that was in the papers about it.

SamuraiCindy · 25/10/2012 20:35

You look great!!

EmpressOfTheSevenScreams · 25/10/2012 20:35

I follow you on Twitter SGM (RafaellaCJ), love your personal blog. Great article.

ConsiderCasey · 25/10/2012 20:40

No idea why, but I always imagined you to look like the blonde girl out of Pepsi and Shirley!! (it's me Messy BTW)

DyeInTheEar · 25/10/2012 21:18

Pepsi and Shirley used to sing with Wham! Shirley is married to Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet I believe....

MmeLindor · 25/10/2012 21:33

lol at disingenuous - I noticed that too.

Did you all have one really cool teacher when you were at school, who you'd sometimes see at the weekends wearing Doc Martens with a denim skirt? The one that all the girls wanted to be like cause she was waaaaaaaaay cooler than Miss Mckinnon with her Princess Di blouse and her flicky hair?

That is Stewie.

Portofino · 25/10/2012 21:34

In this video Notice how they don't get credited.....

Portofino · 25/10/2012 21:39

i apologise for posting Club Tropicana in FWR. It all kinds of wrong - especially George Michael in budgie smugglers.... Blush

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 25/10/2012 21:44

They had their own band briefly as well. I can't say I'm surprised it never troubled your playlist though, SGM!
