Mothers blamed for childs' fillings by Aquafresh

An irritating article here where the toothpaste Aquafresh have slated mothers for kids having fillings.

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2199675/British-children-bad-teeth-More-million-fillings-reveals-study.html

"Aquafresh revealed one in 100 mums have kids suffering from gum disease"

"More than one million children under five have at least two fillings because mothers cannot get them to brush their teeth"

"a fifth of mothers admit their child has not been (to the dentist) for at least two years - four times longer than the recommended gap between visits"

I want to scream! Why did aqua fresh not do this research on PARENTS? Why are the mums being trotted out and slaughtered? If my child ended up with a filling I'd like my husband to be equally looked down upon (!!!) Such an abdication of paternal responsibility that the whole study ONLY looked at mums. Not resident parents, not the main carer, not stay at home mums, not single mums but just MUMS.

"Why are the mums being trotted out and slaughtered?"

This genocide must be stopped at all costs. That matter aside, where is the original survey data?

In a similar vein I got a Toddler magazine from TESCO this week. Containing an article - "20 tips on how MUM's can save money". It clearly should read PARENTS.
Wankers!

Well as another thread on this page is telling us, all men who are child-carers are going to abuse children, so obviously they've realised this and have decided that only women can care for their child without abusing them...

Extraordinarily stupid of Aquafresh - ffs, did no-one involved in this campaign notice it was a tad sexist not to bother mentioning Dads?

maybenow · 09/09/2012 12:33

Woooahhhh there - remember that this is the Daily Mail!!!

I would not be surprised in any way if the research and aquafresh said 'families' and 'parents' and the DM translated that to 'mums'.... seriously, Aquafresh and the researchers involved have no control over how the DM report this... I'd be keen to find the original press release and see what that says.

apparently they just interviewed mothers and Daily Fail did what it usually does.
