I just read the thread about boys failing in education because they do not "fit" into the gender-biased world of education and the article that argues how, in fact, women/girls do not "fit" into the gender biased whole world. It's a very thought-provoking and intellectual thread but it made me think of this rather less intellectual subject so I decided my thoughts might be better served on a new thread!

Anyway, one clear example of where women don't "fit" into the male norm expected by society and, as a result, have to suffer is, as I'm sue we've all experienced, that of public toilets. At the weekend I was standing patiently in a queue of women at a well-known chain of coffee shops outside the ladies while the gents was empty. Desperate and cross, I suggested we take matters into our own hands and we all began to use the gents as well, watching the door for eachother and offering to issue a warning should a real gent need to go! The male coffee shop assistant was very cross and told us we were not allowed to do this (on the basis of "health and safety" of all things which did give us a giggle!!) but we carried on anyway! He went to "get the manager" but by the time manager came we had all finished and order was restored!!

What do you think? Should we use the gents as a matter of course? Were we in the wrong?

So what we are proposing to make men piss better in public is making it a target sport...

Sooo, now this thread appears to have segued into a 'pissing contest' Shock Grin

Anyhoo, yes, there is a definite need for better toilets for women. Not because we're all so speziale, and need fairies to wipe our bums, but because we have MORE bodily requirements. Please don't tell me that men have to deal with pregnancy, taking young kids, periods, tights with skirts, cystitis, or any of the other reasons that women may need better facilities.

Apparently, if you're female and into footie, Norwich is the best team to support. Decent food and adequate toilets. Saint Delia strikes again.

Actually, I wonder how many 'male dominated' spaces would have more female company if the toilets were better? Jus on my own, very limited experience, football grounds are woeful experiences for women, but rugby is much better.

kickassangel: I think rugby, despite it's hard-drinking image, has always been more family-friendly than football.

I'm trying not to stereotype, but in spite of the alcohol, swearing, physicality of it etc, then yes, that's been my experience as well. I would never have taken dd to see football at a young age, but rugby was always fine.

Physically due to a shorter urethra women are more likely to get UTIs, and sex to that mix, well. . .

Hovering is the worst thing you can do, you won't empty your bladder fully, you may not realise/ feel that you haven't , but you won't have. Done on a regular basis other than giving you thights of steel, you'll also have a bladder of bacteria. Actually the best position is squatting.

Personally the poo threads on here, once made me laugh now make me think you sad sad person. I am human I pee/ wee/ piss/ have a slash and poo, crap, shit, whatever you want to call it, I also fart, and burp and have the most amazing gut sounds.

Why as a woman should I deny that?

Rugby loos in my experience have always been nicer than football loos. I have no problem using the lads, if it smells bad so what, it's my bladder I'm worried about not my nasal passages.

As an adult sexual active woman I've seen my share of penises, as an ex nurse I've handled well over my fair share of them.

It's just another body part.

I actually see no reason against unisex toilets. As you say, most adults see the opposite sex quite often, and does it really matter if a young child (even a girl one) sees a man peeing? If the toilets were all in cubicles anyway, that wouldn't happen, or urinals at the far end of the cubicles. It would make it much better for baby changing facilities, so mums and dads could easily take small kids for a nappy change.

Or are we all such delicate beings, that watching someone of the opposite sex walk into a locking cubicle, knowing that they might pee or poo in there, might make us faint?

Seriously - what is the explanation for separated toilets?
