all the horrible stuff about Ched's survivor and the highjacking with 'what about the menz, they get raped toooo'
Who do these people think 'menz' get raped by? Surely they must be men too? At least, the vast majority of the time. So how does it manage to turn into women bashing? I just don't get it.

I started to write a response but it was too depressing.

So who is to blame for male rape? Were they 'asking' for it too? ( Please note, I am in no way belittling their experiences) Just confused how it is women's fault somehow, or at least (or worst) not mens fault?

It turns into women bashing because nobody wants to confront men who are violent towards women or their supporters.

TheCrackFox · 05/05/2012 13:36

It is simple really - if a rapist rapes another man then the rapist's mother would get the blame. Or wife at a push.

Totally agree OP. I also hate in any discussion about where women are badly treated someone posts that thsi happens to men too e.g. DV. Yes it does. But does that mean we can't talk about what happens specifically to women? I don't go on internet discussions about DV against men and say well women suffer from DV too. It is possible to talk about what is happening to one group of people, without having to say, well it happens to others too.

margerykemp · 06/05/2012 21:30

The women defending these men have probably been raped themselves but aren't ready to admit it. It's psychological self-defence.

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 06/05/2012 21:41

I think that's a bit of a leap, Margery. I'd suggest they've internalised misogynist messages about rape victims, and are blaming her instead of the man concerned. Or they are in denial about the man.
