The Everyday Sexism Project

Having been deeply frustrated for years by those little minor niggling incidents of sexism that you 'aren't allowed' to pick up on without being called an over the top, uptight feminst ranter, I've rather fallen in love with this website www.everydaysexism.com (is that how you do a link? not sure). I love the idea of refusing to lie down and take the small stuff- and am particularly enamoured with the mission statement in the 'about' section - but wonder if this is over-idealistic what do others think? The thing is, even if it doesn't 'change the world' i like the idea that it provides women with solidarity and a place to share a story and not be belittled or told they should have shut up and got on with it- particularly helpful for women who are shy/wouldn't feel able to speak up in the actual situation itself I think.

I think it's essentially good - can't be a bad thing to send the message that this is such a huge everyday problem and I definitely agree with the concept of refuting the 'we're already equal stop complaining' argument! Some of the stories on there are heartbreaking though.

I love this site.

It's a great idea.

Exposes the lie that we're all equal now. If we were, men would be subjected to the level of harassment women are and they woulds STFU about us over-reacting.
