Apparently a conservative religious movement have been particularly active in Tunisia recently - the salafi movement - Here for background.

There was a recent demonstration at a university (about women wearing headscarves) where a salafi climbed on the roof of a building and removed the Tunisian flag, replacing it with the salafi flag. News report here

Khaoula Rachidi was the only one of a crowd of onlookers to take action, she climbed onto the roof and challenged the man, being yanked away and knocked over in the process. It was only once she had been knocked over that others intervened.
[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej6fN3RoJt0&feature=related You can see her here- You Tube video of her actions starts at 1.50 and is interspersed with interview)

She has been honoured for her actions and given an annual pension.

I know there are many women who do brave and courageous things every day, but I thought her story was worth sharing.
