That's the Southern Poverty Law Centre, one of the mainstays of the US Civil Rights movement since the 1970s, who the law to fight against bigotry and for equality.

In their Spring Intelligence Report "The Year in Hate and Extremism 2011" they have three articles on MRAs and their war on women:

Men's Rights Movement spreads false claims about women

Misogyny: The Sites

Leader?s Suicide Brings Attention to Men?s Rights Movement

The first article includes a link to a site called register-her.com which has photos and names of women that men claim have made false allegations of rape and DV.

How can that be legal?

AND where is the page for women to name and put photos of men that have attacked them? It's not there because it's not legal.

Confused
SardineQueen · 10/03/2012 10:57

I wish I hadn't gone down that path.
There is a lot of scary scary shit out there, I had no idea.
I am too coddled in MN.

SardineQueen · 10/03/2012 11:01

Why is it legal for men to do that website but not women?

Is there a site in the US where women can post names and pictures of violent men?

Nyac · 10/03/2012 11:07

Mumsnet is a safe space compared to most of the rest of the internet.

I think it's good that attention is being drawn to this outside the feminsit movement. A lot of people think we get what we deserve from MRAs e.g. F4J getting welcomed here whilst the feminists get told to tone it down and have our posts deleted even though it's F4J who are threatening us with legal action.

It is terrifying.

epicfail · 10/03/2012 13:55

Yes, it is terrifying. I began to read some of the sites mentioned in the article but I can't stomach reading the revolting irrational rubbish they spout.
I do read manboobz though - it is the perfect antidote to the MRM.

blackcurrants · 10/03/2012 16:24

I read manboobz too. Christ, this is terrifying.

Thanks for the links Nyac

Warrior against women in the UK

This shit is why Feminists are not the same as MRAs but on the other side. Unless you believe that feminists have infiltrated governments etc to specifically cause harm to men.

AyeRobot · 10/03/2012 16:29

No0t just this stuff, of course Smile

Nyac · 10/03/2012 17:44

These men want to curtail women's rights and also have rights over women. We want to stop them doing that.

We aren't two sides of the same coin, just as bad as each other or whatever else moral incompetents who can't accurately assess a situation want to believe.

I saw this on manboobz too.
And shitredditsays have a funny celebration thread here

epicfail · 10/03/2012 22:13

Don't know about anyone else, but I have to qualify that it is terrifying in an 'internet only' way to me, as I don't know one MRA in real life, in fact had never even heard of them til I started looking at feminism sites online.

That said, I am now far more careful with my personal information online as it has brought to my attention just how many whack-jobs are out there......ugh.

Greythorne · 10/03/2012 22:34

Shocking, frightening and surprising. I had no idea this crap was going on.
Thx for the links.
