BBC today

New report highlighting failings in forces in linking cases together and some forces having high rate of no criming etc

Heartening to see things like this a. being investigated and b. reported on home page of BBc news.

I really hope that forces continue working to close the gaps in their investigation of these types of crimes, and understand and support victims.

Heartening, yes.

On the other hand, they might find it useful to unearth the original draft of the 2005 Met Police report into handling of rape.

The report that was first watered down and then buried by the Met's public affairs arm, as it might be "detrimental to the reputation of the police".

Met Commissioner Ian Blair had wanted to make the force the "best in the world" for handling rape - and it got buried by PR. Makes you weep.

All from Brian Paddick at Leveson yesterday morning, from 161 mins.

UK Feminista FB'd this today. They highlighted that over 2000 reported rapes in England and Wales were logged as no crime (12% of all reported rape). This varied from 30% for Kent to 2.4% for Gloucestershire.
