I wrote off my car recently and am lost without one. I went to my local garage today, recently read posts fresh in my mind about appallingly patronising and sexist car salespeople.

Well, I cannot actually complain about anything. No silly comments about needing to "check with anyone before I sign," no stupid "shiny" comments, or suggestions that I was being influenced by the colour....nothing.

The chap was totally professional and friendly and listened. So well done Tom at the garage near me - you have passed my test and are a good chap all round, I reckon.....and I've got a new CAR - WOOHOOOOO!!!!!

Ugh yes - any bill addressed to the non-existant Mr. Gin will not be opened...

Great news - I need a new car, primary specification - non-sexist sales person

we should give them a 'FeMNist Approved Garage' sign to display proudly outside their garage Grin

We bought a new car recently also, the car was to be registered in DH's name so therefore in the eyes of the salesman I was thereafter not worth speaking to. I telephoned him regarding an aftersale query, wasn't there and left a message for him to call ME back at my home number. What did he do? He telephoned my husband on his mobile instead (who was at work and unable to take calls). He went on to make several more calls in order to get my husband and thereafter sent him a text. Not once did he phone me back. How insulting, to phone someone and they in turn phone your husband. I was not pleased.
