Am I reading this right? Please tell me I'm not. It seems that the Govt want to charge single parents for collecting child maintenance payments. The comments of Maria Miller seem to be risible... Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm so incensed, I've stopped lurking!

Qwerty, there seems to be a Mumsnet Campaign thread about it here. Yes, it's shocking, although I really cease to be shocked by any of the callous, ill-thought out policies coming out of government lately.

Challenge the Proposed CSA Changes.

The comments of Maria Miller seem to be totally unrelated to the rest of the article tbh. She's talking about squeezing more out of non-resident parents. What that has to do with charging the resident parents for administration is... well, somebody with a brain explain it to me, please.

My theory is that charging an admin fee for collecting maintenance is one step to privatisation. Once it isn't free it might just as well be handed over to a private agency, yeah?
