No, I basically feel like Eammon is telling me that if I don't spend lots of money on taxis then i can't expect to stay safe. That isn't how it should be. I expect to be safe regardless.

My sense of safety doesn't depend on an inanimate object. What you're describing isn't empowerment, it's reliance.

We shouldn't have to fear for our safety but there are predators out there. I feel safe knowing that the alarm is there, some may call it reliance but I feel more confident knowing its there.
