Deleted threads

Hello,

I just reported a thread started by 'Dittony' which had a title attacking another poster and provided a link to a blog post.

It looked like a few others had reported it too as they had posted on it.

However in A/C there is another thread with the same title, which when you click on it takes you to a page saying 'error: thread deleted at OP's request'.

The OP however would appear to be someone who posted on the first thread, but not the same person who started it.

So can anyone please clarify what happened here...assuming the second thread was not posted by the same person as the first, (which has now gone) under a namechange?

I know I'm a bit slow here and the conversation has moved on, but I completely agree with SGM about last night's thread. I deleted it immediately, when I saw it (really early on about page 2 or so), but I am disappointed the thread has gone as the feminist were on form and I posted a really good comment about a foetus being a foreign body and AFAIK it was the last post before deletion and my vanity is bruised that (probably) no one saw it.

Anyway, I also don't think that deleting threads like that one serves much purpose, it's the troll than needs banning (and put in their place, which was being done so nicely), not the thread that needs deleting.

I'm not old. I'm fresh faced and youthful. LOVELY, I am.

Bob, could you stop changing the subject and reply to me please? I am just trying very hard to understand what could have been so upsetting about my lighthearted post. I think it is only fair to me, on the receiving end of this vicious and emotional attack, to have a sensible and reasoned explanation from you and edd as to why you jumped on my post. It did not break any talk guidelines and was clearly just humour. I feel as if you are both ganging up on me and it is very upsetting when I am trying to be understanding of your situation.

Boohoo... Try giving that a lifetime in real life. And yet, none of us say that we've had it with men and couldn't care less now if men become decent people who stop trying to hold on to their unearned privilege, we're just going to give up on talking to them or living with them. We continue to engage with them, love them, have sex with them, cook their meals, eat with them, sleep with them, etc.

I guess it's just because we must be better people than you.

You are never on your own, here. I'm sad you feel thaat you need to leave, but to me, it highlights the liberal approach that MNHQ are taking where trolls are concerned.

I do hope that MN do find a way to resolve the issue, because we shouldn't be losing one of our most valued members. Not this way, anyway.

I sincerely hope this isn;t the last we've seen of you dittany. And if you see this, I'd like to thank you for being one of the most eye opening posters here, and, like many of the others, a true inspiration

Dittany, the obvious trolls can be ignored. They troll for attention. If they don't get it they eventually go away. If there are regular MNers continually derailing threads because they are anti-feminist then they can be dealt with the same way.

I can see why you are upset and I would be too. It's crap and it's out of line to start threads about you and attack you personally, dittany. And the trolling is awful. Obviously people are going to challenge other people's posts, and obviously on a forum we all use, avoiding someone isn't a sensible option - but I can see why it feels like the last straw. I am really, really grateful for your posts and especially the support on my recent thread, so I hope you don't go. I can understand why you would want to though - not your job to constantly be a punch bag, and HQ doesn't seem to be doing a lot to stop it.
