I've been doing a major move-around at home and I found a box of books from my uni days including my battered first copy of Fat is a Feminist Issue and a few others, but then, Oh Joy! My Jackie Fleming feminist cartoon books from the early 90s.

Does anyone else know Jackie Fleming?

Its prompted me to check out her website - here

houseofheave · 18/07/2011 10:35

I'll see if I can get pictures of some of the ones I have in the books on here later.

I was just laughing so hard last night. DH wanted to see, but just didn't get them. Ah well.

Brilliant stuff!

dotty2 · 18/07/2011 13:46

I love Jackie Fleming and had a load of her postcards on my wall at uni!

Takver · 18/07/2011 14:23

I love her cartoons, fantastic stuff.

I like Kate Evans too (Cartoon Kate).

minipie · 25/07/2011 16:27

Oh I loove Jacky Fleming! Have a couple of her books at home, I think I was given them for christmas as a teenager. They are brilliant.

nenevomito · 25/07/2011 18:09

I wonder if we have the same ones? I have "Be a bloody train driver" and "never give up".

Brilliant Grin

TheRealTillyMinto · 25/07/2011 18:32

"I'll be a post feminist in a post patriarchal society"

also "some of this i learnt at self defence class and the rest i made up myself" (man tied up in ropes)

(think they are JF)

fluffywhitekittens · 25/07/2011 21:30

I had that book, there was one along the lines of "you're fat". "said the dinghy to the Galleon" that I always liked :)

minipie · 26/07/2011 14:28

Yup those are the ones I have babyheave!

There's one which has some sort of seminar on DV where the men are saying "is there some common factor amongst these women which means they are more likely to be abused?" and a woman replying "yes, the one factor they all had in common was a violent partner..."

and a brilliant one of a woman giving a dinner party, standing in front of her dressed up guests and saying "No food, couldn't be bothered" Grin

Anyway you really need to see them in the flesh!

stealthsquiggle · 26/07/2011 14:32

Oh yes, I have those books and I bought them for my mother as well.

I wonder where they are...

Thanks for the link to the website - I do like her new stuff.

stealthsquiggle · 26/07/2011 14:45

The 'postcards' section of the website has lots of my favourites in.

skirt · 26/07/2011 14:56

My fave is one of a woman talking to a man and shes saying yes we will have mad, passionate sex and then you will return to your own planet or something.

nenevomito · 26/07/2011 15:27

I favourite of mine is on here

"And he said why was I always trying to CHANGE him, and I said probably because he's such an obnoxious, thoughtless, selfish, overbearing, self-righteous, hypocritical, loud-mouthed misogynist bastard"

notquitenormal · 26/07/2011 16:02

babyheave, the football one on that page, bottom right, reminded me very much of this story I read a couple of weeks ago.

Made me quite grumpy at the time.

TheRealMBJ · 26/07/2011 18:34

These are brilliant
