And I'm not even talking about all that MTV shite. I mean REAL music - ROCK.

It's still all so fucking sexist. I've just been listening to some Grinderman (Nick cave's new band) tracks on Youtube and thinking 'Oh yes!' then I see they have a track called 'The No pussy blues'. Well they just lost a cd sale from me. Do they never actually think that some of the listeners might be women?

...or maybe I'm underestimating him. He might have just lost his cat Grin.
But seriously, it happens so often and we just put up with it. Grr!

Ha ha - you do not want to listen to Lil Wayne's 'lollipop'

I loved the now defunct Glassjaw, whose lyrics are often breathtaking in their misogyny and whose lead singer openly 'justified' this by referring to the terrible break up of a 'dysfinctional' relationship. The fact that he didn't seem to ever have liked women very much in the first place, so no wonder his bloody relationship failed, never seemed to occur to him.

You can't really make out many of his words in any case, but I used to ostentatiously not sing the misogynistic bits.

Oh, and rap music: love it, LOVE IT, and the cheesier the better, but refuse to buy or listen to most of it because of the objectification and plain ol' hatred of women.

i agree, i love rock music but some of the lyrics make me cringe.

Victor - Then you're listening to the wrong kind of rap music. Jurassic 5, De La Soul, Pharcyde are pretty woman friendly.

Then there are female rappers like Rah Digga, Jean Grae and Bahamadia.
