Public apology.

As I made public comments about rad fems and then went onto to, not so subtly, attack dittany I would like to apologise as publically and say I am very sorry for joining in in the attack against some (not an ironic some) feminists. I was really angry at the time at some comments made toward me.

However that said whether people know it or not dittany is a vital part of the feminist board and she often notices and points out the wood for the trees. It's pretty harsh at times, but I wouldn't ever want to repeat my terrible PMT fuelled comments and certainly wouldn;'t like to give the impression that I find dittany as anything other than inspirational.

I missed the thread/comments in question, but I do think the threads in feminism and in AIBU often have the risk of kicking off. It's just the nature of debate, I feel, as it has a tendency to become heated when it's something you believe in.

I agree thoroughly about Dittany's role here. She's been an eye opener since I joined, and I thoroughly agree. However, I must add, I do feel so many women here are inspirational.

I think Sparky said it best when she talked about not wanting to fight other women, which is was what I found most distressing about the other thread. In particular when it looks like a particular person is being attacked to justify a general position(ie anti feminism)

CDV I think it is always commendable to acknowledge when a time has come to apologise...though obviously it is not for me to accept to apology, but fair play for coming back and posting it.

fwiw-i felt a bit "unbalenced"on that thread.
on one hand i have my beliefs and im ok with this-
but i also felt sad that women were saying that they couldnt come here and speak.[its fuckin odd that women are too scared to speak to other women-and wrong]
on the other hand i felt like jumping up and down and saying"yeah-but youre just not "getting us"-
but there again-i remember coming here on a fight/not understanding/then getting a lightbulb moment/and staying.
so maybe good come of bad sometime eh!

I see from the delightfully positive alternative AIBU thread on here that dittany has already accepted your apology CDV, which is great. I just wanted to add that I think making a public apology is really quite courageous and does you credit.

CDV. I too missed the thread but agree with sunshine re your apology. My mother always said to me that it takes a big person to apologise. Im sure things just got a bit out of hand. Your hearts are all in the right place.

Gosh, I wish I had seen this thread yesterday. What a decent (and courageous) thing to do.

Having been in your position a while back (on another board and another issue) I know how you feel. And, a word of encouragement: generally the experience of having said things in the heat of the moment that I didn't necessarily mean, regretted it and apologised for it, has been a positive one for me. I got it (deservedly) in the neck when I apologised, yes, but I now am much better at expressing myself on line and knowing when to leave the keyboard when the red mist descends.
