Aw bless.

An "all feminists hate men" thread - that takes me back

Have just fled over here from AIBU, looking for a mumsnet section to call home (very disturbed by thread on not name changing on marriage, thought we lived in the 21st C where we got to choose, evidently not!)

So,
man loving (well not all of them, obviously)
old (power surges all done and dusted)
divorced (but not bitter - yes he did go off with a younger woman but they'll crash and burn mark my words and I got the cats & kids)
craft loving (yes quilts! Can't make them for toffee but have serious quilt-making skill envy - might try a nice witchy spinning wheel)
feminist (of the socialist, equal rights and equal responsibilities variety, accepting some differences might be 'nature' but on a continuum "most men tend towards" kind of thing and a strong belief in the negative effect of social conditioning)

Look forward to getting to 'meet' you all ( well to be perfectly honest it's not likely to be all is it? Not having just read the said thread Wink

Can someone point me to a corner where I can plonk my bean bag? Am I allowed to stay even if I take up knitting? (it'll be radical empowering knitting naturally) oh and where's the bar?

oh thanks all for the nice welcome, will def come over to the chat thread.

I'm such a wannabe craft person! had great plans to do lots when I was made redundant last year, but 3 months later DH said he wanted a divorce so I got caught up with other stuff, as you do! Still divorce sorted, getting the house sorted now, one room of which I and dd3 want to turn into an art / craft room (currently storing the junk from the other rooms being done... sigh)

I'm Sussex area PrinceH - so lots of things happening down here (easy access to Brighton by train), would LOVE to find a crafty feminist WI though, my little town is rather right of centre I'm afraid (keeping my name was definitely something that had to be fought for and continually explained!)

The handmaidens tale - right - thinks hard - where would it be? moves aside of pile of books just returned by exh - they got mixed up with his and now he's finally unpacking them all (who on earth helped the man pack the books?? "Feminist teaching" "The Woman's dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Object" honestly! AND they almost left behind the one on premature ejaculation - luckily I spotted that one so I kindly put it on top of the pile)
ah!! - oops no, that's "the robber bride" not handmaidens tale... off to Amazon, one click, there. Ordered. will be delivered on Thursday:-)
I did find "The Women's room" in the bookcase by the side of my bed though! so at least I know where that is.
