New Hooters petition

Hi all
www.gopetition.com/petitions/close-hooters-in-bristol-now.html

I posted a couple of weeks ago about the 3-D breast cake, complete with nipples, and girlie calendars in the party bags, that was served at a 12 year old boy's birthday party. I cannot send out the photograph of the cake that was served at the party but if you google image 'Hooters birthday cake', and see the one with the naked breasts bursting out of the Hooters t-shirt, you will have some idea of what it was like. Hooters in Bristol also held their first 'bikini contest' for the staff the day before the birthday party in May.

The council are currently carrying out an investigation into whether there has been a breach of the licence and we are calling for there to be a review of the licence.

The new petition has been started to urge the council and responsible authorities to take action and to review the Hooters licence.

Please sign the petition and pass on to as many people as you think may be interested. Please also e-mail Marks and Spencer to urge them again to break their ties with this company ([email protected]).

Thanks everyone

Thanks very much. Anonymous of Leamington Spa (currently poster number 385) sums up how it happened and she's right in that we wouldn't allow homophobic or racist themed restaurants. And she's right about the makeup of the licensing committee that allowed the licence to go through!

Have signed and bumping.

I can't 'like' for facebook. Could be just my 'puter playing up, will try later.

QueenofWhatever · 02/06/2011 19:27

Signed and facebooked to Bristol MNetters.

JessinAvalon · 02/06/2011 22:10

Great - thanks all. Nearly up to 800 signatures in 2 days. That's excellent. Last time we got 1000 signatures in just under 2 weeks (which is still good going).

I'll keep you informed of news about the Hooters licence.

Signed,

Really shocked at the stupidity of the 12 year old boys parents, presenting children with porno birthday cakes. Why oh why would a mother take her son somewhere like that?

JessinAvalon · 24/06/2011 22:07

Thanks Queenbathsheba. I know - it's amazing what some parents think is acceptable. That's the problem with places like Hooters. They have no age restriction and their very presence on the high street makes it seem legitimate and acceptable for anyone to go there.

Will keep everyone posted on what's happening with the licence. We are waiting on the results of an investigation at Bristol City Council. It should be completed any day.

isnt it his choice whether he wants a Hooters cake?

BasilRathbone · 09/01/2012 17:32

Yep it's his choice.

And it's someone else's choice whether they rape someone, or shout obscenities at them or are just unpleasant to them.

Why are you here asking about choice as if the very act of choosing something, makes it valid? Some choices are shit. This is one of them. That's why it got featured on a feminist activism thread, months ago.

Hmm

You are all up in arms over a cake shaped like a pair of boobs? You gotta be kidding me.

I think there are bigger problems in the country than boobie cakes.

DuelingFanjo · 04/09/2012 10:48

how did you find this zombie thread Dana? Anyone would think you just came here to search for things that feminists are angry about so you can be angry back!

Frans1980 · 26/11/2012 01:13

I would imagine most 12 year old boys would be happy to get a boobie birthday cake!
