Just complained to the BBC after hearing some awful stuff on Radio 1 (yes, I know, but colleagues like it).... you should be able to get the gist of it from my complaint. Did I word it OK?
Complaint type:
Radio
Location:
England
Radio station:
Radio 1
Programme title:
Greg James
Transmission date:
11/05/2011
Complaint category:
Offence
Complaint summary:
Blatant sexism and talk of sexual exploitation of a colleague
Full complaint:
Just before the 14:30 news, the presenters were talking about a group of cadets coming in to do some exercises. Firstly, one of the presenters expressed surprise, in a negative way, that one of the cadets was a female.
Next, the presenters were talking about getting one of their female colleagues to join in the exercises in a bra, hoping to create a Carry On moment when Barbara Windsor apparently bursts out of her bra and reveals her breasts.
The attitude that women cannot/do not serve in the armed forces in a physical manner comparable to their male counterparts was bad enough.
However, the sexual exploitation of the female colleague for 'comedy' reaction, by suggesting they wanted to see her breasts was absolutely unacceptable on any level.
