ghastly ghastly man today

I was out with my 2 children today at the market. One of the stalls was selling cds so was playing music.

My nearly 4yo dd was dancing, not in anyone's way and unobtrusively. A man passed and said she was a good dancer, then said she would be a great lapdancer in a few years Shock

I didn't react- it took a moment to go from yes she's a good dancer to did he say what i think he said to omfg he DID say what i think he said

I have had nobboids catcall me before, and am not easily shocked, but this really threw me- he initially looked like a kindly grandad type

also i was alone with the kids, and neither of them heard or would understand if they did, and me doing anything might have upset them

Moot point though, by the time i processed it i would have had to chase after him to say anything

Nonetheless i really really regret not saying something punching himin the cock

LlydogenFawr · 10/05/2011 19:27

Sorry, hit send to fast! Not bad enough they talk about women in those terms. Talking that way is disgraceful.

TimeWasting · 10/05/2011 20:21

Sad Bloody awful.

nailak · 10/05/2011 20:24

maybe he didnt like the way your dauhter was dancin or somethin? he thouht it was too rown up dancin? not suitable for a 4 year old? i cant think of any other reason why he would link a 4 yr old dancin to a lapdancer unless he was a erm paedo.

Grumpla · 10/05/2011 20:33

Oh yuck yuck yuck a thousand times yuck. That is just WRONG!!!

vezzie · 10/05/2011 21:09

I feel your rage, Chibi.
What a cock.

I was v. surprised - too surprised to think of any way to take her up on it - when a MW asked me, when I was pg, what I was having (just as a pleasantry) and I told her we didn't know because the baby was in the wrong position at the scan. She brightly informed me that both of hers had been easily identifiable with legs apart "like porn stars!" wtf? You are comparing your unborn child to a porn star?

SuchProspects · 10/05/2011 21:25

Chibi that is so vile. What a nasty excuse for a human being.

Is there no sexually aggravated version of this law? So many people think this sort of thing is funny.

Maybeitsbecause · 10/05/2011 21:26

What a vile human being.

chibi · 10/05/2011 21:30

I know

It caught me completely off guard

I am not some bonkers pfb mummy, plenty of people don't like kids, or even my kids perhaps, and had he called her ugly or bratty or fuck knows what i would have just shrugged it off iyswim

This was just nasty and unxepectedly nasty which.somehow made it feel worse

Am going to put it behind me now, but v glad of a chance to vent

Oh yuk! Yuk yuk!

I was in the pub with a friend having civilised lunch drinks and a woman called her 8yo daughter over with 'hey sexy girl!' and swooped her up, repeating 'you're a sexy girl' to the delight of the girl and the woman's adult friends.

I had to try sooo hard not to make a catsbum face at her, she looked a bit scary to say the least

Bennifer · 10/05/2011 23:39

Very funny!!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/05/2011 12:25

What's funny about it?

How horrible chibi, she's a little girl FFS. It just goes to show how the increasing number of lapdancing clubs/porn films contribute to a twisted view of women and girls. She's a child dancing, but no - she's a potential lapdancer because women are sexual capital apparently. makes me want to cry/scream/throw up/punch people.

cloudyweather · 11/05/2011 12:37

vile
yep-i agree with Elephants.

msbuggywinkle · 11/05/2011 13:20

Yep, vile.

I had similar happen to my DD2 (2yrs), as we were getting off a bus DD2 was faffing with the handrail and a woman in her 60's (ish) said 'she'll make a great pole dancer' I just stared open mouthed, DP had the presence of mind to reply that he thought the remark was offensive, sexist and inappropriate.

luvvinlife · 11/05/2011 13:28

That would have sent a chill down my spine, repulsive in the extreme.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/05/2011 13:38

Bleugh.

No, let me say that again.

BLEUGH.

Horrible man.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 11/05/2011 13:41

Boak, what a disgusting old codger. Creepy doesn't even cover it. No decent individual would look at a tot dancing and think ''future lapdancer''.

melezka · 14/05/2011 17:33

I am moving my daughter from her dance school because they have started offering adult classes in burlesque and pole dancing.

BooyHoo · 14/05/2011 17:39

disgusting!!

what sort of a world do we live in where CHILDREN are thought of in a sexually titilating way??? how fucking wrong is that?

i am fuming on your behalf.
