Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Am I a feminist?

I don't really know!

In general I'm not that bothered by sexism. Well, in principle of course I am, but I guess it doesn't bother me as I don't really encounter it in my daily life. The two men I see most are about the most un-sexist men I've ever met (DH and my dad)

So, things like the current buffy/friends threads, work related stuff etc (I'm a SAHM/OU student) don't interest me at all. I have no interest in all the marches etc.

But when it comes to raising children, gender stereotypes drive me crazy! Maybe it's just because my DCs are young (1 and 3), but anyway I really support things like 'pink stinks' etc and we are really careful not to force DS away from 'girls toys' etc. We just want them to be themselves.

So... Do I count as a feminist or not? :)

I'm not as equally interested, or invested in challenging all aspects of sexism at any one time.
Unequality in domestic relationships and like you, gender stereotyping of children are the aspects that I notice most in my own life and most wind me up.

I used to think that issues of sexual violence and rape didn't affect me, but since I've read more on here I can see it everywhere even if I'm alright.

So involvement and preoccupation with different aspects evolve I think.
