Another one of my SIL 'inciteful' views on women!

This followed "People don't realise how much power real ladies truly hold, behind every great man is a great woman, people need to accept men and women are different, 2 halves of one whole created to compliment each other."

WTF!

i was going to just shriek with laughter, but then it occurred to me that these people might have children to be imposing their views on....

thefinerthingsinlife · 06/05/2011 11:27

You make have hit the nail on the head smallwhitecat.

"behind every great man there is a great woman" Yes, she is very often kicking him up the arse

valiumbandwitch · 06/05/2011 11:37

Smallcat, yeah, she needs to rationalise the fact that she's an also ran in her husband's eyes. She must have to work quite hard to feel good about being his subordinate.

garlicbutter · 06/05/2011 11:47

I feel rather cross with her husband. Is he your brother?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/05/2011 11:50

Love Grimma's logic :o

Suggested translation of title quote:

"Women are pretty worthless, so to gain some negligible value they need to shut up, never argue, never have sex unless their one allotted man suggests the filthy concept, defer to him in everything by virtue of his saintly cock making him clever, and defend him to the world regardless of his merit. Only then may they gain the label "lady" and be elevated slightly from the common mass of worthless females".

thefinerthingsinlife · 06/05/2011 12:01

They aren't married. Nooooo Garlicbutter he's not my brother! She is my DH sister.

I'm so tempted to message her your fab translation Grin

LOLOLOL abo9ut some people's absolutely grim determination to pretend that this isn't about women being second class human beings, it's somehow about these being universal virtues appropriate to both men and women.

The woman said it's about laydees - why the fuck are some of you pretending this is a discussion about people?

HerBEggs · 06/05/2011 12:03

Even when they see sexism before them, in black and white, some people will put their fingers in their ears and go "lalalalalala I can't see it, hear it or smell it, you feminists see sexism everywhere and it's not there, it's all in your silly little hysterical heads"

Grin
garlicbutter · 06/05/2011 12:12

Phew! Glad you're not related to the overbearing god-impostor. Maybe DH should recruit one of those cult rescue agencies to bring her back to the real world?

aliceliddell · 08/05/2011 19:02

You've been told about your attitude before, HerBEggs. You are embittered, which is most unattractive in a woman. Though not as unattractive as a moustache.

JumbledUp · 08/05/2011 19:18

Had a similar conversation with a relative of mine recently. Apparently woman are expected to work, look after the children, plus have dinner ready when the man gets home to the house that she has cleaned. Am I wrong in thinking that it is 2011?

SardineQueen · 08/05/2011 19:21

Jumbled that's great news! Where do women who arrive home from work after their menfolk pick up their TARDIS, in order to cook the dinner before he gets home? I have always wanted one Grin

SybilBeddows · 08/05/2011 19:44

don't be silly SQ. You're forgetting about slow cookers. Or you can leave his dinner in a nice little foil parcel in the fridge with instructions written on it on how long to put it in the oven for. Time machine indeed, it's just a matter of getting up half an hour earlier in the morning, as I'm sure any proper wife would be happy to do for her dh.

SardineQueen · 08/05/2011 19:48

A proper wife is always home to serve up the supper on a freshly laid table.

Foil package in the fridge? I pity your menfolk.

AmIAPayne · 08/05/2011 19:49

SardineQueen Grin:)

She's one of the ladies with binoculars, out of the Aunt Bessie's commercials Grin

Sounds like 'surrendered wife' religious claptrap to me.

How do you handle things with your SIL (and DH) when she comes up with shit like this?

thefinerthingsinlife · 09/05/2011 12:24

It's not too bad as she lives 250 miles away so rarely see her, she mainly spouts this rubbish on facebook and her partner is wary of me as I've pulled him up on he sexist bile before.

OP posts:
MummyBerryJuice · 09/05/2011 12:48

Ah, but they aren't married? How well does that sit within her fundaMentalist views?

SardineQueen · 09/05/2011 12:54

Assuming they are having sex then I guess it's OK mummyberry.

If they are in fact having sex then I will around to have a word. Sex before marriage is most definitely a sin and most definitely not ladylike.
