I'm still undecided which way to vote. I can't see AV making a differnce to women but I'm probably missing something.

Yes I did indeed vote yes, for all the reasons above. I also voted for Elvis vs Tesco in the locals as he was the only candidate who dropped a flyer round and talked to me face to face. He hasn't got a chance....! Good on him though.

SuchProspects · 05/05/2011 20:49

I voted yes - mainly because I think our current parliament needs to know that the current set up is not acceptable. But I'm a bit apathetic about it as I don't actually think AV is likely to improve government - especially given how poor the campaign on both sides has been (at least around here).

I think this is the first referendum I've ever voted in and it's a bit of an anticlimax.

midnightexpress · 05/05/2011 20:57

I voted yes too, for all the reasons already mentioned.

The Yes campaign posters up here in Scotland just say 'Cameron wants you to vote no'. With a particularly toady picture of DC.

msrisotto · 05/05/2011 20:57

Spoiled my paper. I've been thinking about it all week and i'm just not happy with either.

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 05/05/2011 21:00

Got to ask - Elvis vs Tesco??

McDreamy · 05/05/2011 21:01

Done - yes to AV for all the reasons previously mentioned.

AliceWorld · 05/05/2011 21:16

hocuspontas - majority of those that voted I believe. That's the usual. Otherwise nothing would ever happen as turnout is pretty low in general. There are instances where the Tories government try to change it to a majority of all eligible for things they want to fix and it usually gets overturned as it's so unfair.

duckyfuzz · 05/05/2011 21:19

yes

notenoughsocks · 05/05/2011 21:21

Hocuspontas (love thatGrin.

It will be as the proportion of votes cast. In some cases (as in with Welsh devolution, I think) they set a threshold so that the vote is only counted as valid if there is a 40% turnout. The amendment to set the 40% threshold on this referendum was rejected. So, it is just whichever side gets the most votes on this one.

notenoughsocks · 05/05/2011 21:21

oops, sorry Alice, x posted.

DillyDaydreaming · 05/05/2011 21:23

I voted YES. As far as I am concerned anything which The Spectator, The Tories and the BNP are so set against must have merit.

AliceWorld · 05/05/2011 21:28

notenoughsocks - at least we gave the same answer Grin

hocuspontas · 05/05/2011 21:37

Thanks ladies

JessinAvalon · 05/05/2011 22:18

I voted yes.

If David Cameron, the BNP and the Daily Mail don't want it then it must be a good thing, I figured.

thefinerthingsinlife · 05/05/2011 22:43

Well after dithering for 5 minutes in the booth I put an X in the yes box. Mainly because tories and BNP don't want it.

Counting starts this afternoon apparently.

SardineQueen · 06/05/2011 08:44

I have checked the BBC website but can't find any "early indications". The papers and news sites had been predicting a landslide for No - but was that just a tactic? I have no idea?

Does anyone know if there are any indications of what the result might be?

God I'm impatient Grin

AliceWorld · 06/05/2011 08:57

They're saying on the radio now it's a no, but I've not been listening to how they think they know. Predicted no, not an actual no, obvs.
