Aaah, does anyone have a copy of The Handmaid's Tale and a few minutes spare?

I'm handing an essay in tomorrow on The Handmaid's Tale and another book. I've finished it, but I thought to myself "Oh, I can't be bothered writing down all these page numbers when I'm mid-flow, I'll stick a bookmark in and go through at the end..." which is what I usually do and it's normally fine, only I've left my copy of The Handmaid's Tale in my car and my brother's driven it to France. Completely my own fault and utterly useless of me but I had lots of book to unpack, he was rushing to catch his ferry, and it must have just been left behind

If I list the quotes I've used (there are only a few from HMT) would anyone please, please mind checking the page references for me? I don't think it would take too long, but there are no copies in the university library and it would save my life. Or at least my module grade.

When they first mention 'gender traitors' hanging on the wall;
The passage at the beginning (I think it's the end of the first chapter) where Offred mentions that they would whisper their names in the Red Centre;
The part where Offred remarks that it's amazing what can become normal and accepted;
The section in the 'historical notes' where the Professor mentions the underground femaleroad.

Don't forget to reference the edition that the person helping you has when it comes to your bibliography.

My edition is the Virago 1987. The page number for the end of chapter one is page 14, where they whisper their names. More soon...

I just ran up stairs to get my book, slipped at the top, trapped my hand in the radiator controls, cried with pain till my husband came to get me, and am now recovering with a cup of tea.

Poor Alice, I hope your hand is okay, although I had a little LOL at your description of your misadventure..!

My hand is now recovered although I am anticipating bruising. (It was a bit funny , especially when my husband wanted to know what book I wanted (so he could help me) but I am so meant to be working and there as no way the Handmaid's tale would fit into that)

I'm stuck on the others. Not read the book for a looong time.

the hanging of the man - pg 290-292 ? Did you want all of that bit or just a specific page?

Offreds remark -There's a short passage that starts "Is that how we lived then? But we lived as usual" on pg 66. Is that the bit you wanted? Or there's a bit later which is a few pages long describing the governments actions.
